Club Scrap Hydrangeas Blog Hop

Welcome to the April Club Scrap Hydrangeas Blog Hop!  If you got here from Annette's page then you are on the right page.  If you got here some other way and would like to start at the beginning of the hop, go to the Club Scrap Blog HERE.  I subscribe to the Club Scrap Digital kit and the Club Stamp Kit.  First I made a card from the Club Stamp Kit.

These stamps beg to be heat embossed.  I heat embossed them with Ranger Super Fine Gold EP.  Then I colored them with Distressed Markers in Dusty Concord and Mowed Lawn.  I used the gorgeous text weight DP for the background.  The bow was from my stash already tied  so I decided to use it (because I have a hard time tying a bow (LOL). The kit does come with some beautiful yellow and green striped sheer ribbon.  Here is a close up of the shiny embossing.

I was really happy when I got the digital kit because I have been working on Scrapbooking my daughter's wedding photos.  The colors in the Hydreangeas kit goes so well with her wedding colors.  Here's a page I did with the digital kit.  For the digital kits I use the Panstoria Artisan Software to make my digital pages.

Now head on over to Wendy's Blog next.  If you want to start at the beginning of the hop go HERE.

Online Card Classes Watercolor for Cardmakers.

If you are looking for my House of Cards DT post go HERE.

I signed up for the Online Card Classes "Watercolor for Cardmakers." They encouraged us to play with different types of watercolor media.  I had not done much with watercolor pencils before so I took the challenge to try them.  Here is a 5x7" card I created using Derwent watercolor pencils.

I continue to strive to become a watercolor artist since studying for my Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts 40 years ago.  Since I retired I have been taking a Studio Painting Class where other students and a teacher have given welcome feedback and much needed practice.  Right at the time I signed up for the Online Card Class my instructor challenged me to create a card with watercolor.  Mission accomplished and I now have a better idea of how to use the watercolor pencils in a way that suits me!

OWH Midweek Throwdown Brown

If you are looking for my House of Cards DT Post please go HERE.  Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown is to create cards using brown as your color scheme.  I created two cards using my treasured Simple Stories "Documented" paper and stickers (no longer being sold).  I loved that paper kit.  Found some more on Ebay so I won't be totally out!

House of Cards April Sketch Challenge

Good Morning!  The Challenge over at the House of Cards Challenge Blog for April is a sketch challenge. So this two weeks of April is for Clean & Simple Cards (CAS) or Classic & Elegant cards that follow the sketch.  Hop on over and play along with us.  Here is my DT card for the challenge.

Here's the sketch.

I am still playing with my Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations Trellis Framework Die.  The diecut was leftover from another card I did.  The papers are "Nature Garden" from Prima.  I filled in the diecut with papers that coordinated with the background paper.  The butterfly is Memory Box Darla and Vivienne.  I double embossed the Vivienne butterfly with clear embossing powder to give it a nice shine.  Then I stamped and colored the Hampton Art Graphic 45 "Once Upon a Springtime" stamp.

I am also entering this in the MOJO Monday 342.

OWH Sketch Challenge #220

220

The trick to this one is to turn the paper on its side and trim it.  Still not an easy card to make.  DP is from my stash of old DP that I cut into 4 x 5 1/4 and have been trying to use up.  Think I'll make a few more of these cards for the OWH box.  Sentiment is Just Rite Stamps.

OWH Masculine Any Theme Challenge

The Mid-week throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps blog is for a masculine card with any theme (birthday, thanks, miss you, etc.).  I was completing my Stampin'Up Paper Pumpkin kit from March and had one card left over.  I made this CAS nautical type card with the leftover card. And not one stamp was used in this project -- that's amazing for me!

Circle Framelits Dies
Circle Card Thinlits Die (thx and chevrons)

12 Tags as a Card

I wanted to see how I could translate Tim Holtz April's 12 Tags into a card rather than a tag. (I did the tag in my last post HERE.)   I also wanted to play along at Words 2 Scrap By's challenge of "Shine Bright like a Diamond."   I also wanted to enter The Card Concept Challenge "Use a Butterfly Theme" in their Shabby and Vintage category.  Here's what I came up with.

Instead of using the Trellis die I used my Lifestyle Crafts Diamonds die. I then filled in the empty spaces with a Ranger Foil Cardstock diamond and some bits and scraps left over from a previous project.  The background is the same as what Tim used for his tag.  Here's the rest of the products I used for this:
Ranger Manila Cardstock
Tim Holtz Tissue Tape
Distressed Paint in Bundled Sage
Distressed Ink in Vintage Photo
Stamper's Anonymous Simple Sayings
Ideology Paper Stash Kraft Resist
Ideology Salvage Stickers (Butterfly)
Really Reasonable Ribbon
Prima Flowers
Diamond Bling from my stash.

12 Tags of 2014 April

I decided to play along with Tim Holtz and his 12 Tags of 2014 for April.  There's a lot of distressing and inking on this baby.  I used my new Tim Holtz Alterations Frameworks Trellis Die.

Roses are made from the Tim Holtz Tattered Pinecone die.  I love the mirror inserts in the trellis.  Hard to see in the photo but really makes the tag shine!

Club Scrap Boot Camp Week Eight

This week at the Club Scrap Creates Blog the Boot Camp Challenge is "Bold and Bright."  We were encouraged to use bold and bright colors on our project.  This time I used the Club Scrap Fire & Ice Kit.  For each link on the page Club Scrap will donate ten cents to Operation Write Home.  Your project must have at least 50% Club Scrap materiel. Since this is the last week I hope enough projects are linked to get to the $500 mark.

The cardstock, DP and stamps are from the November 2013 Fire & Ice Kit.  You can purchase elements from it here.  The Designer papers in this kit are gorgeous.  Ink is Ranger Archival Jet Black.
